My Story
Embracing the road I hadn’t expected…
My original plan was to be an elementary teacher. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do for the rest of my life, but one thing I did know is that I loved kids, so I thought that teaching could be a great fit. Then, in my second semester of college, my older brother was in a near-fatal car accident and I spent months coming and going from the hospital, helping him through a very long recovery. After spending that time with him, nursing seemed like a better fit, so I pivoted, switched schools and went into nursing.
Fast forward 20-ish years into my nursing career, combined with a fair amount of life experience, I’ve been able to help many parents and kids alike through all sorts of trauma. In the end, it’s like life coaching found me rather than the other way around. The last 10 years of nursing, I’ve cared for children with congenital heart disease and have been raising a child with heart disease as well, so I’ve experienced both the honor and the pain of being on both sides of the bed. This has given me the unique experience and perspective of helping kids, and their parents, walk through all different kinds of pain and come out on the other side. The road isn’t always smooth, but I believe there is always something redemptive to be found in the messiness of life, especially when we don’t walk alone.
My Values:
Authenticity- desiring a life that is congruent on the inside and outside
Freedom- an unencumbered life; lightheartedness and not taking myself too seriously
Learning/ Growth- I have a nearly insatiable desire to always be learning more- about myself, others, relationships and how people and things work
Connectedness- I’m driven and energized by deep, real connection
Goodness- pursuing what is good, pure, whole and true
Adventure- taking worthwile risks that could lead to more of the above qualities
Simplicity- being intentional about what I allow to have space in my life in order to prioritize the things that mean the most, namely, the people in my life and pursuing my life calling
In a nutshell, I want to live wholehearted, even when it’s hard… especially when it’s hard… and I want that for you, and for your kiddos, too. No one comes into the world perfect and no one leaves it that way either, but there is such beauty in authentic, trust-based relationships. Our lives are worth mining for the gold they are and the beauty they’re created to reflect. I’d love to join you on your journey of motherhood- I may be biased but I believe it’s the most important job in the world!
